In the light of feedback received from several teachers, students and colleagues of the author, the text of the book has been revised and enlarged. Recognising the importance of the design of circular and annular rafts, a new section in the chapter on 'Shallow Foundation' has been added. An illustrative example on this is also added for lucid understanding. The chapter 15 on Reinforced Earth has been revised keeping in view of the latest knowledge available on this.
